The Role
A major government project is underway to reimagine how people access and engage with important historical and operational information online. As an Experience Designer, you’ll lead the discovery and design of new digital experiences – from public search and discovery tools to internal workflows and client-facing portals.
You’ll map current service states, run research and usability testing, and lead workshops to co-design future-state experiences. Your work will span five key areas, helping ensure the end-to-end experience is consistent, accessible, and aligned with user needs.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll collaborate closely with delivery teams, content specialists, business SMEs and tech leads – all while championing human-centred design across the program.

About You
You bring a strong human-centred design toolkit and can lead end-to-end discovery and research. You’re confident turning insights into actionable recommendations and facilitating co-design with diverse stakeholders. You’ve worked in or alongside government teams before, and understand how to balance user needs, policy drivers and delivery constraints.
Bonus points if you’ve worked in Agile environments or bring visual design capability.

Essential

  • Human-centred designer with a track record of research-led service design
  • Skilled in usability testing, interviews, workshops and persona development
  • Comfortable mapping user journeys and service blueprints
  • Confident leading co-design sessions and facilitating alignment across teams
  • Deep understanding of design thinking and practical application
Desirable
  • Strong Miro skills
  • Experience working in Agile teams (Scrum or Kanban)
  • Visual design capability
